I'm writing a novel!
I wrote about 9,000 words this weekend!...too bad it was all for this test that I'm studying for.
But anyways, I'm writing a children's novel, about the world that my pets get into when I'm not around.
I went to New Orleans this weekend, and I'm going to go to the Bacchus Ball in February. Yay! My first New Orleans Mardi Gras, and I'll be at a Ball...rather silly really.
Happy Guy Fawkes Day All...sucks I didn't remember until it was already the 6th on the East coast, but my heart's in the right place :) |

I'm no longer pursuing a master's degree, at least at this point in time. I am instead pursuing a master's level Geographic Information Technologies Certificate, which will benefit me in that I am learning how to make maps on computers from air photos. It's fun and intellectually stimulating, at least at this point in time, neither of which can really be said about my attempt at identifying pollen (my first thesis attempt). Since I'm no longer a master's student, I gave up my teaching assistantship, which means I have to pay for college. But it also means that I have a lot more time to dedicate to my classes. With my slightly more existant free time, I am making 2 scarves: I am knitting a multi-colored rainbow scarf, and crocheting a Halloween orange and black scarf. I love them both equally, as if they were my own children ;) I worked, for a very short period of time, at a Starbucks, and discovered that I do still love the concept of working in a coffee house, but when it comes down to it, the people you work with make the job. So now I am happily unemployed, trying to rake in the student loans that I can't get because I made too much money last year, and enjoying the fact that my husband has a job he likes that pays well to boot. Yesterday I went to my first tailgating party, and it was awesome rad, even if I only drank virgin sodas. I didn't stay for the game, but if you happened to watch the USM vs Rice game and saw a sign that said "Pinch the Hooters," know that those people are in my department. And if you saw a dude in Scout Trooper armour, he's now my friend on facebook. Yeah, good times. And now for the sad shit: my cat is sick. She has an upper-respiratory infection, which caused conjunctivitis to screw up her left eye. I have no idea how long she's been sick, but her fever is steadily climbing. They think she might have Feline Leukemia or FIV, and if she does, I swear I'm going to go to her old Vet, and heads will roll, because the only time she could have gotten it (she was tested when we got her) was while she was being boarded there. She has to stay overnight, and it makes me sad. In other news: I think I'm going to be Alice (in Wonderland) for Halloween. If not, then expect me to join the Mississippi Legion of the 501st, as the Sith Lord Asajj Ventress. so much for growing my hair out... |

I'm married!
Apparently god got pissed off at us for getting married on 666 though, and sent a hail storm after us into the grand canyon. |

| woohoo! V for Vendetta is showing at 10 o'clock tonight! Finally! I get to see this damn movie that I was expecting to see in November. And I was kinda worried, due to my other plans for tomorrow evening, that I'd have to wait even longer to see it :) |

Current Music: Johnny whining
I just dropped a class. I feel guilty, but it makes my life a lot easier.
In other news: I get to go on the mule trip at the Grand Canyon! |

| I talked to financial aid, and it turns out I only have to be a part time student in order to keep my scholarships. Which means I only have to take 6 hours. Which means I can drop two classes, if I so desired. Have I mentioned that I'm not really enjoying British Romanticism either? Yes, I know, I should be, I was looking forward to it, but if I have to read another Wordsworth poem, and then have to explain how its similar to Johnny Cash/Axl Rose/Marilyn Manson/The Crow again, I'm going to scream. So I think I'm going to stick with it until the first essay at least, just to see what it is I am supposed to be gaining from this class. I'm also going to stick with ceramics until Mr. Wright tells me I have to remake my pieces that exploded in the kiln. |

| I think I'm going to cry. Porgy and Bess came to the Mobile Opera and I missed it. In fact, I apparently didn't know it was happening until after the single performance. |

Who all's made bets as to how long mine and returntocinder's marriage is going to last? I know there is one, because there always is, and I was just wondering what the current trend is. |

Sometimes Johnny likes to sit on my lap while I'm at the computer. I've often gotten annoyed at the way he will indiscriminately lick my screen. Today, I finally realized why he was licking my screen. It appears that he is trying to eat the mouse curser. I have the cutest dog ever :)
Oh, if anyone is in the mood to get the wits scared out of them, go to the reptile house of the birmingham zoo. Or try to look up at vulcan from the top of the observation tower.
The movie edition of scene it is much more fun and less likely to start a fight than the tv version of scene it. |

Um, I'm alive. Dunno if anyone was wondering or not, but I am.
And yay! It's a new year! Happy new year! And my resolution is to be happier than this past year...yeah, shouldn't be too hard.
p.s. I have Johnny back! I missed my baby :( |

My little baby is growing up! At 6 1/2 months old, he has finally lifted his *back* leg in order to piss on the "parking by permit only" sign. And he didn't even pee on himself!
*Sigh* - They grow up so fast! Although originally I wanted to have him nuetered before he started lifting his leg, I definitely think its better for him to lift his back leg than his front leg (yes, he was doing that. it was really weird). |

Dear Santa...
Dear Santa,
This year I've been busy!
In April I pushed diello2 in the mud (-17 points). Last Friday I donated bone marrow to themothra in a life-saving procedure (300 points). Last Wenesday I ruled Canada as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points). In September I gave zorak303 a wet willie, then I took it back (-5 points). Last Sunday I ruled Iran as a cruel and heartless dictator (-700 points).
Overall, I've been nice (278 points). For Christmas I deserve a toy train!
Sincerely, prettydelial |
Damnit! I wanted a red radio flyer wagon! Anyone else find it odd that I can still be good when overthrowing a legitimate government? |
Nov. 22nd, 2005 @ 11:26 am Issues with a meme stolen from star_holder |

The cutest of the cute, these baby ducks are often spotted in the spring following closely behind their mother. As a duckling you will grow up quickly, becoming one of the adult ducks seen commonly in ponds and streams. Playful and timid, charming and vulnerable, ducklings are nature's very definition of innocence. You were almost a: Bunny or a LambYou are least like a: Bear Cub or a DuckWhat Cute Animal Are You?
A)Why am I not a bunny? I understand that I am most like a bunny, but still...maybe cuz I don't like kids? B)How can I be a duckiling if I'm scared of heights? C)How can I be a duckling if I'm least like a duck? |

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your LJ and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.
I am posting that above meme because star_holder asked people to do this.
In other news, Greek Fest last night was wonderful, and I love baby Wayne more every time I see him. I also got my first engagement present (money for my veil). Tonight is Angie Aparo in Birmingham. The last time I went to Birmingham was to see Angie Aparo, and it was so long ago that I've been feeling a sense of loss from having been away from the city for so long. Tomorrow is Depeche Mode in Atlanta, and hopefully Mirrormask or V for Vendetta. And the future in-laws doing laundry (also hopefully).
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith came out Tuesday...and I still haven't had time to watch it.
Edit: No, apparently I'm not going to get to see any movies this weekend, as V for Vendetta was pushed back till march (I didn't find out about it until September, but apparently I was wrong in thinking its trailer was correct.) And I'm not sure Mirrormask exists anymore, so once again I waited too long to see something I really wanted to see. |
